Where to Find Me! Whether I leave Tumblr for good or not. Probably not. We’ll see.

lil-mizz-jay:

FurAffinity (I’ll be posting more often here)

My Derpibooru Artist Tag (I’ll post here too)

Twitter (I really don’t like Twitter, but here you go)

PATREON (I’m going to start updating this much more often)

Inkbunny
(I post Foalcon and NonCon art here, all of which is hidden unless you
have an Inkbunny account, so you’re best off you know not clicking this
unless you’re into that)

NEWGROUNDS (So far I like this place, and I had a lengthy back-and-forth private message conversation with Tom Fulp about various improvements that he plans to make to the site to make it more welcoming for Tumblr evacuees. He likes my idea of making folders in the File Dump that allow you to link people to said folders for portfolio sake. :3)

And,
Piczel (I just made this one too. I’ll see if I like it. 10 bucks a
month to give myself a header and a 200mb upload limit per picture seems
kind of lame though but it might be necessary)

And most importantly

HERE IS THE LINK TO MY PUBLIC DISCORD.

My Public Discord is a community I’ve been garnering for almost 2 years now, a place filled with positivity, a haven for artists to have a place to post their art and announce streams, and a place for roleplayers and gamers to find friends to do those things with. Currently, as of posting this, 809 members!

It’s a somewhat strictly polite place, I expect good behavior and we’re not afraid to issue bans, but we’re also pretty lenient for the most part. As long as you’re not repeatedly caught being a dingus you’re fine. Even Jay was a huge dingus a long time ago. Now he’s a small dingus with a small pingus.

henriettalamb:

Hey because like, this site is absolutely awful and nobody’s actually managing it at this point, I’m gonna slowly leave it, I’m not deleting my main account, it’ll still be here mind you

At this point, any update for anything comic or art related in general is going to be here:
https://twitter.com/WallisColours

If you wanna see anything from me at all, it will be there

at this point I can only hope this site would just end quicker, or, there’s a better blogging/comic alternative, because artists- not just nsfw ones are being stifled every day here, which is awful because it used to be so good at increasing visibility

no more, tumblr is gonna lose half their fanbase and deserve it, so yeah, follow me there if you can

olderglow:

this post will be updated as I find more websites to add! please check with the original before reblogging to see if there’s an updated version, and message me with more suggestions if you have them!!

for general use

  • myspace.com – yes, it still exists, i’m just as surprised as you
  • soup.io – very similar to tumblr, plus it can import your tumblr blog
  • twitter.com – allows posting both text and photos in sets, allows retweets

geared towards writers and bloggers

geared towards artists and photographers

  • deviantart.com – huge community, allows posting art + sorting into folders
  • furaffinity.net – similar to DA but for furries, easy to display commish info
  • instagram.com – photo and video posts, excellent tag search
  • piczel.tv – allows both streaming and posting art / photosets to a gallery
  • pixiv.net – huge anime art community, allows livestreaming

paid platforms

  • patreon.com – subscription-based access to many diff types of content
  • pillowfort.io – still in beta, but should function almost identically to tumblr
  • typepad.com – similar to wordpress but with reblogging and a dash

ways to save your current tumblr posts

  • use the wayback machine! you do have to archive each page of your blog individually but once you do all the content, including media, will be saved exactly as it was at the moment you archived it.

  • wordpress and soup both allow you to directly import whole tumblr blogs, and if i recall correctly it’s something both dreamwidth and pillowfort have said they are working on.

  • if you have some knowledge of computers you can try this github solution which uses a python script to download your whole blog to your computer.
even if you don’t know anything about programming or the command line

they give a very good beginners tutorial on how to use it so you should still give it a shot!

RIP Tumblr

cromboi:

cromboi:

Apparently Tumblr is getting purged of all NSFW content. Also it’s important to mention that they consider the tag “Furry” is under the NSFW content purge. Go to my Twitter and FA account please. I will warn my Twitter is more of a personal twitter than an art only one. But if you want an art only mode with an occasional YCH auction follow me on FA. Links:

FA: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/crombie/

Just re-blogging to let people in on the move. Also I have a DA account but they don’t allow vag on their so I’m not sure whether to post it or not.

I have had 3 mineral posts flagged as adult content today. They contained a tourmaline, a muscovite, and a galena. On Friday I had 3 fossil posts flagged as adult content, including a fossil fish, a fossil tooth from a mastodon, and a Tyrannosaur vertebrae. I’ve submitted appeals for each. This has been getting worse over the past month, apparently most of geology content is now only for adults.

Apparently you can’t get your rocks off on Tumblr anymore.

i am contractually obligated to congratulate you on this reply

I realize that some people do, in fact, use pornography to cope, but please understand that it’s not healthy from any perspective. If Tumblr 18+ content ban is freaking you out because you’re going to lose your emotional crutch, please consider seeking help from a professional.

I saw people objecting because “but what if we don’t want to use other websites!!” like if porn is so embarrassing to you in any context but tumblr, then you’re figuring out that it’s a problem and you need to fight it. Praying for anyone who’s dealing with this addiction and realizing what a negative impact it’s having on their lives.

I personally doubt that tumblr is gonna effectively ban ALL porn (because of how inept their bot detectors seem to act), but for those freaking out about it: Fight The New Drug has a bunch of resources and tips for those wanting to kick their habit. It’s secular, encouraging, and constantly cites research.

I want to inform the 1% here that I would be without a boyfriend, without an apartment, without all of my wonderful friends across globe that I have visited and the people that has helped me prevent myself taking suicide – thanks the nsfw artist community here on tumblr.

My gay ass would possibly be dead and in the best case just trapped in my parent’s house, severely depressed, alone, never having lost my virginity or discovered real love.

Do you think of all the people here that I’m absolutely alone in being saved like this? Maybe I’m just a very unlikely success story… but think about it, please. There might be others out there being saved right now. Not because being addicted to porn – but because the people behind the art can be fantastic and supportive af

A better, more positive Tumblr

staff:

Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.

Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).

Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.

So what is changing?

Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.

Why are we doing this?

It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.

So what’s next?

Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.

Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.

Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.

Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

I would be dead without porn on tumblr. Without porn on tumblr I would have succeeded in my suicide attempt. A blogger invited me to chatgroup because of the great art I shared here (from other talented tumblr users). With his help and the many many people that I met because of that – I would have never met the people that I love and love me today. I would have never met my boyfriend. I would have never traveled through the vast beauty of an entire different continent and so many other countries to meet so many beautiful people. I would not even have my own apartment. I’d still be stuck in my parents home, unemployed, lonely, and utterly miserable – even possibly dead.

My life is so much better and more filled with friends and love and healthy relationships than I could have ever dreamt of 2 years before, when I alone and deppressed engaged more in the furry pornartist community, here, on tumblr.

@staff Adult content 100% saved my life through the loving and positive community it fostered. There may be others experiencing the same things right now. There may be others in the future that would have their life turned for the better…

So please, please reconsider this. You are potentially snuffing out the life of many to make very few just feel a bit less uncomfortable. Is that really worth it? Or are your pretty words truly just a disguise for a company that truly… does not care…

We don’t need another facebook. We need a space to truly be ourselves. This is not the way…
